Symptoms of Chlamydia in Men

The Chlamydia trachomatis, as is formally known, is a common sexually transmitted disease caused by bacteria. The general symptoms are genital pain and discharge from the vagina or penis. However, many people never develop the signs or symptoms. In men the most common signs are painful urination, lower abdominal pain, discharge from the penis, and testicular pain associated with swelling and fever; in some cases Chlamydia can spread to a man´s prostate causing prostatitis with pain, fever, chills and lower back pain. Other symptoms, less common though, are infection in the rectum with discharge or bleeding accompanied by pain; is even possible to get eye infections (some kind of conjunctivitis) through contact with infected secretions from a diseased person.
