33pc people have dumped partners via Facebook, email or text

London, Nov 15 (ANI): Social networking sites, email and SMSes are increasingly becoming popular choices for people to end their romantic relationships, a new study has revealed.

Market researchers Lab42 asked 550 people above the age of 18 about the impact of social networking on their relationships.

The survey found that a third of people ended their relationship using these sites, email or texts.

And while 33 per cent of respondents said they had broken up this way, 40 per cent admitted they thought it was possible they would in the future.

They study revealed that rather than sobbing into their pillows after a break-up, just over half of respondents immediately went online to change their Facebook status.

Yet while many relationships see their end on the site, the survey found communicating via the web nudged a few fledgling relationships along, the Daily Mail reported.

Nearly six in ten per cent of people who meet someone they are interested in immediately send them a Facebook friend request. (ANI)
