What Are the Symptoms of Herpes in Women?

Generally speaking Herpes Simplex affects men and women in the same manner. Blisters will first appear near the lips, genitals, or anus. Once these blisters burst they leave tender tissue underneath. Common symptoms include numbness and tingling of the affected area, a burning sensation while urinating and during sexual intercourse. In women complications may arise during pregnancy. If the mother becomes infected around the time of delivery the risk of transmission is high, anywhere from 30 to 60 percent. If the infection is recurring the risk drops to about 3% but precautions should still be taken to avoid transmission as much as possible.
