The Best Places to Meet Single Women in Brussels, Belgium
Brussels, the political capital of Europe, has been established as a city since the 13th century, and enjoys its status as one of the diplomatic pillars of the modern world. Although small, it is comprised of nineteen municipalities, meaning there are plenty of unique and exciting places (and people) waiting to be discovered!
Known for its rich and prosperous history (a hot topic of conversation, to be sure), Belgium is the oldest free country in Europe, and the first to receive a charter of rights in 1066. It was also among the first countries in the world to legalize gay marriage, abortion and euthanasia, so the people of Brussels are very open-minded, easy to talk to, and easy to meet! The median age of Brussel residents is 44, so the city is perfect for those older than the average single. That’s not to say that younger people are out of the race just yet.

Brussels is home to many art-lovers, and testimony to this is the fact that the city boasts more comic-strip artists per square kilometre than anywhere else in the world! Chances are high you’ll bump into the artistically inclined, and what better place to do so than the historic Royal Museums of Fine Arts?
Comprising of six museums (the Musée Old Masters Museum, the Musée Wiertz Museum, the Musée Magritte Museum, the Musée Modern Museum, the Musée Meunier Museum, and the new Musée Fin-de-Siècle Museum), the Royal Museums encompass more than twenty-thousand works of art. It covers a period extending from the 15th to the 21st centuries, providing a vast overview of western art, with astounding collections of works by artists from Belgium, or from the former Southern Netherlands. Most recognizable amongst these artists are Anthony van Dyck, Jacob Jordaens, and Peter Paul Rubens; the latter’s art being displayed in the Rubens room. With its red walls, space, and massive Rubens paintings, it is especially impressive, as well as atmospheric. Be sure to brush up on the history of his paintings, and you’ll be more than equipped to engage with like-minded enthusiasts. “Did you know he is considered the most influential artist of Flemish Baroque tradition?” seems as good a place as any to start!
Though the sheer scope of the Royal Museums is impressive, another, more lively way of seeking out romance would be affording a visit to the Jeu de Balle Flea Market. Also known as the Old Market, it is the most famous flea market in Belgium’s capital city, and is is the world’s only antique and flea market to be open three-hundred and sixty-five days a year!
For music and book lovers, there are boxes full of rare books and graphic novels. Everyone knows that bookworms are hard to keep quiet once you get them talking; so get them talking! Ask about their favourite author, why they like a certain book, or tell them what your favourite book is; and you’re sure to get a conversation going. Searching the market for treasure is sure to be a fun way to spend the day, and if you remember to be outgoing and approachable you just might find a treasure of a potential date too! Ask for directions, or about a favourite stall, and you might end up spending time with someone, even after you’ve browsed through the entirety of the market.
For some fresh air, and to meet with nature loving women, you might be tempted to visit one of Brussels’ many parks. Never letting up on the grandeur permeating the rest of the city, Brussels is known as one of the greenest cities in the European continent, with plenty of outdoor spaces to boast of.
There’s something intrinsically romantic about the Tuin van de Kleine Zavel, also known as the Garden of the Petit Sablon. The Garden is a serene park located in the Sablon neighbourhood, and it lays between the Rue de la Régence and Egmont's Palace, facing the spectacular church, Our-Lady of the Sablon. This park is a great place for taking long walks, and the scenery (mountain upon mountain of flowers and archaic churches and palaces) is definitely worth a photo! Ask a woman to help you out with a shot, and treat them to a coffee from one of the nearby street-vendors as a show of thanks.
For those with an affinity to water, the Océade Water Park caters to those with fins for fingers. Never mind its abundance of slides and waterfalls, their indoor swimming pool and outdoor pool are ideal places to meet others who love to swim. Crack a joke or two, and, if you hit it off with a woman, the Océade has an abundance of restaurants you can visit to get to know each other a little better.
If you’re a music lover, take some time to check out the L’Archiduc. The iconic art-deco jazz bar (with its glaring, neon blue lettering; and the doorbell you have to ring just to get in) is one of Brussel’s many locales that jazz enthusiasts may find themselves frequenting. If you’re into something a little more niche, a definite place to visit is the Madame Moustache. This is a bar that looks like a cabaret, but rock concerts and DJ nights take centre stage! No doubt you’ll meet some interesting people; and - if you’re going to Madame Moustache - there is ample opportunity to show off your dance moves.
All in all, Belgium is a country with a colorful and interesting history and the women are very much the same. Engage with women that you find attractive, and enjoy the atmosphere and people of a truly splendid city! Remember: If you’re having fun, the only way to have some more, is by sharing it with someone else!
